The timber hitch is one method used to attach the string to a longbow. It's is useful for hauling logs as well. Add a half hitch at the end and you get a Killick hitch, which is useful when the load you are trying to drag needs a little more securing. My main resource for these knot videos is the book "Knots" by Richard Hopkins.

how to tie a timber hitch, scout standard. a timber hitch is used to loop on to a log or a piece of wood and its used to drag it along. the book cover protector is used in the video is kinda thin thus the coiling effect of the rope is not as obvious as if i did it on a piece of wood or paka pole.
