The Fiskars Hatchet is a great tool. Its a light-weight axe with a hollow handle which Fiskars claim is unbreakable, but I am sure if you tried hard enough you could break it. The length is 14inches overall and this makes it a very portable hatchet for the woods. It performs bushcraft tasks very well, like making a feather stick, tent pegs or preparing firewood.

By: terminatorab35. on 12 Feb 11, 13:01:19 Hey, good vid. just to let you know wood grows in an outward layering process,(rings of a tree) so the only time you go across grain is when you cut a log/tree in segments or the start of a branch(knot hole) from? the log. those lines you see on the ends are saw marks or chop marks. Look past the lines and you should see a ring pattern. Remember count the rings on the stump for the age of the tree. you can even tell which years were dry by real thin rings. thankyou

I couldn't help but laugh at how you screwed it up when you put the tan mat on - and shoved the paper up too far!
When it came out half-embossed? and really messed up, you tried to brush it off - as if you intended to do that on purpose!
Would it have killed you to just take two minutes and re-do it properly?
By the way - if you simply CLEAN the bottom of the CB, the suction will return and you won't have it wobbling all over the place.
I got to test my ... By: BOTTOLOTTO. on 14 Jan 12, 01:36:27 I got to test my Fiskars? Momentum under some pretty adverse conditions - cutting a lawn that had overgrown for two months, complete with weed overgrowth. The basic lawn is (was) St. Augustine.
The 4" max is helpful if yard gets overgrown, cuz it gets bogged down otherwise. On the other hand, it doesn't handle the weeds at all, so I had LOTS of handweeding. And Sweetgum balls/pinecones do NOT go with the Momentum. Must be picked up prior to mowing, or picked from mower.
I love it anyway.

@LiveGreenMom I ... By: btsseeker. on 11 Sep 11, 06:15:02 @LiveGreenMom I have gone through two push mowers and one (same design) yet powered. I've done it myself and have used a professional in the past. He will not longer do it. The "reel" mowers do cut the grass better, but the maintenance, oiling the blade, tuning,? etc. was too much in time and money. I can use my power mower and cut the grass in a fraction of the time with good results. The eco impact is negligible and greatly compensated for in other areas.

Here's the deal: You have to sharpen all five blades, exactly right across the whole surface and all blades matching. Each moving blade must contact the fixed blade the same. If you sharpen one blade more (removing more metal) it will not make contact with the fixed? blade and will not cut. Each blade must be sharpened to exactly contact the fixed blade....this can be a real tuning nightmare a much work

I have had no problems with the blades, and I have hit some stones, though no tough brush. I clear sticks, branches & brush before I mow. It cuts through leaves if you don't have a huge mess of them, otherwise you need to rake up the bulk first. The height is adjusted on the right side for the whole rotary blade. (see minute 1:34). I think there is a bag you can buy but I don't have it.

1. how durable is the blade (might hit small pebbles/tough? brush), if it can be sharpened it wouldnt seem as easy as a rotary blade
2. you cant adjust height per individual wheels as a rotary
3. how does it handle mowing leaves, most rotaries have an optional bag attachment to help gather leaves

The nice thing about being able to get it there is that either store will take? it back if you don't connect with it or it doesn't do the job. It does NOT work well with Bermuda grasses. I have mowed wet grass with it, and while i do not recommend mowing when it is raining like I did, or of the grass is soaking, damp grass was not a problem. I HAD to mow when it was really wet teh other day and I kept having to clean off the blades of excess grass.

Another video on using the Fiskars Hatchet. This time in the woods chopping through a 6 inch diameter fallen, dead birch tree. The axe performed great as always although it was hard to chop through the tree but that is due to the size of the hatchet. The edge held up well and after I did some chopping my friend went through the same piece of birch with the Fiskars.
